Window Rock, AZ is home to one of the stores operated by the Navajo Nation: Navajo Arts and Crafts Enterprise, known as NACE. In 2017, we completed construction on the 5,643 SF building, designed to serve two purposes — a retail store and a production space for the handmade Navajo jewelry and other local goods sold there.

The highlight of this project is the individual rooms designated for specific crafts, including silver smithing, glass wax laser, buffing, grinding and inlay, molding, casting and kiln, a couple of classrooms to teach future Navajo craftspeople, and of course a secure vault to store the valuable pieces these talented folks are creating. Ensuring staff can work comfortably, we included a foyer, break room, individual ADA restrooms with showers, and offices to meet the needs of the staff. Last but not least, you can’t forget the utility rooms!

NACE isn’t just another store; it teaches culturally driven craftsmanship, brings the community together, shares a piece of Navajo Nation culture, and supports the local economy in Window Rock.
